Description

The vintage Kurdish Bidjar area rug is a true gem of tribal weaving.  This piece embodies the essence of "beauty in simplicity" through its elegant design and masterful use of natural materials.

This beautiful rug features a deceptively simple yet beautifully elegant geometric diamond design. Its captivating character is enhanced by the scattered addition of small, whimsical tree forms, a testament to the ingenuity and artistic expression of the tribal weaver. This combination of a structured diamond pattern with spontaneous, natural motifs creates a harmonious and visually dynamic tapestry.

The rug's main field is woven with natural wool in a beautiful camelhair tone, showcasing a subtle abrash effect—the natural color variations that result from the use of vegetable dyes. This organic, tonal shading adds immense depth and a charming sense of history to the rug. The palette of natural colors further enhances its authentic and rustic appeal.

Bidjar rugs, woven by the Kurdish people in Western Persia, are renowned for their exceptionally dense and resilient "iron-like" weaves, which make them incredibly durable. This rug is a fine example of that enduring craftsmanship, designed to withstand the test of time while retaining its artistic integrity.
