2’ 6” x 3’ 10” A handwoven Nain area rug from the 3rd quarter of the 1900s with a fine weave with Tiffany and French Blue colors. This Nain rug has a beautiful floral design set in a rich navy blue field color with a beige color border. The design colors in the field include navy blue, Tiffany blue, green, brown, and caramel. The corner spandrels are in French blue with cream color designs. The rug has a wool pile with a cotton foundation and silk highlights.V The vibrancy of the silk is unbelievable. It definitely gives that three-dimensionality to the design. The central medallion is in caramel color with designs in navy blue, Tiffany pale blue, and cream silk highlights. Truly a gem from the fine workshop weavers in Nain.
