Description

A beautifully handwoven vintage Tabriz-design Persian area rug, hand-knotted in India during the third quarter of the 20th century, featuring a refined floral medallion design inspired by the grand tradition of 16th–17th century Persian court carpets. Set against a desirable cream field, the central medallion emerges in shades of French blue, green, brown, and pink — harmoniously balanced by surrounding floral motifs in navy blue, red, green, and caramel.

The corner spandrels in French blue and caramel echo the central theme with complementary accent colors, while a cream border adorned with a continuation of the floral design frames the rug and enhances its classical symmetry. India's finest workshops have produced Tabriz-design carpets for generations, drawing on the vocabulary of the great Persian masters and executing their patterns with skill and fidelity — this piece exemplifies the best of that tradition.
