Description

This early 20th-century Turkmen Ersari rug features a striking allover Gul (octagonal medallion) pattern, a hallmark of Ersari tribal weaving. The design is composed of three vertical columns of medallions, each framed and separated by geometric lattice-like symbols in green and deep navy-black.

The rug’s rich red field provides a vibrant foundation, while accents in green, navy, and black add depth and contrast. A bold red primary border with geometric motifs further enhances the composition, framed by secondary borders in abrash green and navy tones. Its rare and desirable “near square” room size makes it a versatile choice for a variety of spaces, from living rooms to libraries and offices.

Valued for its authenticity, balance, and artistry, this vintage Ersari rug offers both cultural significance and timeless design. A true collector’s piece, it brings warmth, sophistication, and character to both traditional and modern interiors.
