4’ x 6’ 8”    Beautiful silk flatwoven soumak area rug from the Shahsavan Tribe in NW Persia.  The three large squares in the field of cream color with tones of rust, light green, and pink form the basis of the design. The large geometric forms in the squares and the design of small bird forms with silk needlepoint throughout manifest in a beautiful tribal Soumak area rug.

Date of Manufacture:  3rd Quarter of the 1900s 
Place of Origin:  NW Persia
Material:  Silk pile on a cotton foundation
